"Sri Vinayaka Mitra Mandali"
1st A Main, 8th Block, Jayanager,Bengaluru - 70 was started in the year 1982 by a group of enthusiastic youngsters who were in their teens / college / or just had started working in jobs. The idea was to propagate the traditional values of Hindu society and also at the same time to bring together people of the locality on a common platform to worship Lord Ganesha- the remover of obstacles - and be blessed for a prosperous society at large.
It was also a platform to established as well as budding artists in various cultural field to show case their talent to a larger audience and at the same time to entertain the citizens of the locality at the time of Ganesha festival year after year. There have been some contests for children and as a token of encouragement to pursue their studies, top three ranked students of the area - Jayanagar 8th Block - are given cash prizes in both SSLC and PUC examinations held during that year.
Since the year 1989 "Ganapathi Homa' is also performed in the Mandali's premises for the betterment of all residents of the locality on all fronts. Over years the Mandali registered themselves as a registered body under Charities Act and is donating stationary / writing materials / furniture / display boards to un-aided schools and alto note books to poor students. As a responible body it is celebrating 'Vana Mahotsava' planting saplings before onset of monsoon every year and is also holding free medical check up for the people of nearby areas in association with Prabha Eye clinic and other hospitals every year.
The Mandali has celebrated 30 years of Vinayakotsava and is marching ahead in its commitment to the locality in upholding high traditional value of the Hindu society and also taking care of eco - friendly activities.
